Care Structure

The FLOURISH pastoral care framework was developed in 2022 to clearly represent the Hall’s priorities in boarder development during their adolescent years. Our FLOURISH framework draws from the wisdom of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) domains developed by CASEL and considers the holistic needs of youths. It underscores our commitment to guide boarders in their development of independence and to exercise autonomy with gradual and guided increments of freedom in a safe and structured environment.

Supervised Study

Study Time is a fixed, scheduled time for the completion of academic work from Mondays to Thursdays.

Attendance at Study Time is compulsory for Junior and Intermediate Boarders (grade 6-10 or equivalent).

Senior boarders (grade 11 and above or equivalent) are given the space to exercise autonomy in their personal schedules.

Pastoral Care

The well-being of every boarder is important to us. Living away from home can be both exciting and challenging, especially for those adjusting to a new environment for the first time.

Our residential team is trained in Duty of Care and is committed to offering the warmth, care, and concern that a parent would.

Meals

Meals are freshly prepared, cooked and served in our Dining Hall by our in-house caterer.

Breakfast (6am-8am) & Dinner (6pm-7.30pm) every day.

Lunch (12pm-2pm) is served every Saturday, Sunday, School Holiday and Public Holiday.

Age-grade Grouping

Junior: 11 to 13; Pri 6 to Sec 2; Grade 6 to 8 or equivalent

Intermediate: 14 to 15; Sec 3 to 4; Grade 9 to 10 or equivalent

Senior: 16 and above; Sec 5/JC 1/Grade 11 and up or equivalent

The Hall groups boarders according to their age, then by grade. This manner of grouping considers the boarders’ developmental maturity by age, as well as their academic load based on their grade.

Device Management

Differentiated device management is implemented in ACS Oldham Hall to support the well-being, focus, and healthy development of our boarders.

By setting thoughtful boundaries on device use, we aim to create a balanced environment where boarders can rest well, stay present, and make the most of their time at school.
