Q:    What do I need to pay when I check-in at ACS Oldham Hall?
A:    
1) Private Boarder
  • Prior to check-in at ACS Oldham Hall, the private boarder is to settle full payment for the following items.  No refund of payment will be allowed once full payment has been made.  The deposit will be refunded to the boarder upon full compliance of the terms and conditions stated by ACS Oldham Hall.  Mode of payment can either be through Telegraphic Transfer (preferred), Cash or Crossed Cheque made payable to ACS Oldham Hall.

    o    Semester fee (eg, 23 June 2008 to 14 November 2008)
    o    Registration fee
    o    Access card
    o    Deposit
    o    Application fee
    o    Insurance (optional for Singaporean or PR)


2) MOE Scholar

  • Upon check-in at ACS Oldham Hall, the MOE Scholar is to settle full CASH payment of S$70 for Deposit (S$50) and Access card (S$20) within 7 working days of his/her stay.

Q:    Do I need to pay the fee for Air-Conditioning?
A:  
1) Private Boarder

  • Your boarding fee is inclusive of the air-Conditioning supply which is turned on from 7.30pm to 5.30am daily.


2) MOE Scholar

  • As the boarder’s room is equipped with air-conditioning supply from 7.30pm to 5.30am daily, the MOE Scholar is to pay an annual fee of S$200 where we charge S$20 per month from January to October through GIRO deduction.

Q:    How do I get back my deposit?  
A:    
1) Private boarders

  • have to fill in the ‘Notice of Withdrawal’ form at the office counter and submit to Finance Department with one month's written notice given by the parents or guardian.  Refund of deposit will be returned to the boarder within one month after check-out date from ACS Oldham Hall.  Refund of deposit will be made in local currency by cheque or Telegraphic Transfer.  The one month's notice means that it has already been paid in full regardless of whether the boarder is occupying the bed physically.  For instance if the boarder has paid for one semester's fee (2 Jan to 23 May 2008) and serves one month's written notice on 15 May 2008, his last day shall be 14 June 2008.  Payment of the boarding rate is applicable from 24 May 2008 to 14 June 2008 based on daily rate.  Failure to comply with the terms and conditions will result in the deposit being forfeited or partially refunded only.

    
2) MOE Scholars

  • have to fill in the ‘Notice of Withdrawal’ form at the office counter and submit to Finance Department with approved letter from Ministry of Education (MOE) giving at least one week notice.  All refund of deposit will be given in cash.

Q:    Is there any penalty for late payment?
A:    There will be a penalty of 2% charged per month for late payment.

Q:   How many type of boarder's room do you have?
A:   There are 4 types of boarder's room in ACS Oldham Hall – 2-bedded, 3-bedded, 4- 
      bedded and 6-bedded, subject to the availability and allocation by the House

      Mistress/Deputy House Mistress.

 

Q:   Why is the boarder expected to pack his belongings during the mid-year

       and year-end school holidays?

A:   ACS Oldham Hall conducts a spring cleaning for the entire hall during the mid-year 

      and year-end school holidays.  This regime is necessary to rid off the dust and dirt

      found in the boarders' rooms like the wardrobes, study desks, under the beds,

        ceiling fans, windows and other unreachable areas which are done by the professionals.

        The boarder is expected to pack all his belongings prior to his departure from ACS

        Oldham Hall to his home country during these major school vacations as clearing of

        their belongings will ensure a thorough and expeditious process done by the cleaners.

        At the same time, the boarders' rooms are rented out for holiday camps and retreats

        during this period and to avoid any loss of valuables, every boarder must clear his room

        before he is allowed to check-out. 

 

Q:    Where can the boarder store his belonging after he has packed them?

A:     Storage space and standard size card boxes (chargeable) are available for the

        boarder to pack and store his belonging.  Each boarder is entitled to three

        storage spaces on a complimentary basis and a rate will be charged for the 4th

        storage space  onwards.  Boarders can sell their used card boxes to the office after use. 

        One luggage is equivalent to two storage spaces.

Q:        What facilities are available at ACS Oldham Hall?

A:         At ACS Oldham Hall, there is a Gymnasium, Music room, Chapel, Dining Hall, Tuition Rooms, Study Room with computers, Common Room, Laundry Room, Pantry, Sick Bay, table tennis court, phone card vending machine, coin and card public telephones.  We also share some sports facilities with ACS (Barker Road) which are tennis courts, futsal court, swimming pool, badminton and basketball courts.  Rental of facilities like the Dining Hall, Tuition Rooms, Music Room and Chapel are available for rental to the public.

 

Q:        What are the hours to observe in ACS Oldham Hall?

A:        Boarders are to observe the following hours during their stay in ACS Oldham Hall:

Should a boarder needs to come back late to the Hall, he/ she will need a written permission from the school or relevant parties to explain why he/she is returning late with the submission of a leave form online or permission slip to the House Master.

 

Q:        Do you provide accommodation for short-term stay?

A:        Our boarding school provides facilities for retreats and camps during the mid-year and end-year school holidays.  On usual days, ACS Oldham Hall is running on a full-house capacity and does not offer such facilities to the public.

 

Q:        How many meals are provided?

A:        Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are served on weekends, public holidays and school holidays. Only Breakfast and Dinner are provided during weekdays.  The food option is Chinese, Vegetarian and Halal.

 

Q:        Does the laundry service provide ironing for all the clothes?

A:        No, only school uniforms are ironed and hanged.  The boarders have to submit  

           collect the laundry personally.

 
Q:       Can you tell us the operational hours for the laundry?

A:        The laundry is open from 12noon to 10.00pm from Monday to Friday and from

           12noon to 8pm on Saturday for  submission and collection. There are coin-

           operated washing closes machines and dryers available for those who prefer to

           do their own washing. The laundry closes on Sundays and Public

           Holidays.          

 

Q:       Do you have someone to clean the room for my child?

A:       No. The boarders are expected to keep their rooms clean and tidy at all times.
          This includes the rooms' floor, bed, desk, book shelf  and other  area within
          the premises.  Common areas like the pantry, restroom, study room and 
          common room upkeep by our cleaners.

 

Q:       Can I have internet access in my room?

A:       At a minimal of monthly charges,boarder can sign up for internet with the service

          provider authorized by the Hall. Wireless internet access is provided hall-wide

          between the hours of 5am and 12am, seven days a week. Application form and

          rate are available at the hall office.
